Wesburn was planted in 1981 and is the most eastern site leased by Mac Forbes. It is located just before the township of Warburton, at the foot of Mount Bride (1000m). The soil is comprised of very thin fossil over compact siltstone clay. Wesburn has an east north east aspect. Mount Bride offers protection and shelters the vineyard into mid-morning resulting in a site with a large diurnal range. The resultant extension of the ripening period expresses itself by way of far greater tannin depth, high notes and fruit weight. Wesburn began as an abandoned and unloved collection of vines. However with much work; it has transformed into one of our truly inspirational sites. We believe Wesburn has the potential to make some of our most exciting wines.
